Our History – Machining in Milestones

The origin of GORNY GmbH dates back to the 19th century. The company’s history in milestones:

  • 2015

    The ever growing GORNY GmbH moves into new production
    and storage facilities.

  • 2006

    The company conducts mechanical and thermo-electrical tests
    on the company-owned test field, e.g., analyzing the interaction of different fittings and ropes made of heat-resistant aluminum.

    The foundries are refurbished and moved into a newly constructed location in order to increase production capacities.

  • 1996

    EA-Elektron-Armaturen is sold. GORNY GmbH distributes
    high-voltage fittings under its own label.

  • 1994

    To this day, GORNY GmbH has been operating its own aluminum and bronze foundries.

  • 1992

    GORNY GmbH starts to forge its own aluminum in Munich.

    Georg Fischer outsources the high voltage fittings production
    to the company EA Elektron-Armaturen Schaffhausen.

  • 1989

    PLP sells its Wirschitz related business to the Swiss
    company Georg Fischer in Schaffhausen.

    PLP closes down the manufacturing site in Munich.
    Gorny GmbH takes over the facility and continues to product
    high-voltage fittings in the existing infrastructure.

  • 1980

    Wirschitz & Co. is acquired by PLP.

  • 1977

    GORNY GmbH is established under the leadership of
    Karl-Heinz Gorny as independent welding business within
    the company Wirschitz & Co..

  • 1954

    The company moves to a new production facility
    at Kistlerhofstraße 124.

  • 1948

    Manufacturing of high and low voltage fittings is resumed
    on a preliminary basis.

  • ca. 1933

    At the beginning of the 1930s, Wirschitz company pioneers
    the manufacturing of tension clamps and suspension claps
    from aluminum.

  • 1929

    The company extends its product portfolio and focuses
    on the production of high voltage fittings. 

  • 1898

    Founding of the Wirschitz company in Munich.

  • 2015
